Category Archive: Editorial
The editorial division is for pieces on issues by more opinionated writers. Fair, respectable, newsworthy op-eds only. Any explicit violation of one or more of the following will act as grounds for rejection of the piece until proper edits are made. The guidelines for opinion pieces to be considered are:
1. The topic must be relevant and involve a clear individual opinion, not simply a statement of facts and statistics. The beauty of editorials is in the balance of emotion and logic that structure the argument.
2. Multiple perspectives on the same topic are encouraged, but the details, specifics, and rationales used to support and explore these perspectives mustn’t have already been addressed in another article so as to avoid redundancy.
3. The article must be well researched and edited by staff members, as is the standard for all articles. All sources must be cited within the article.
4. It cannot include a derogatory response to another op-ed or attack any individual.
5. Profanity or explicit language is prohibited.
6. Posts written about national leaders (president, senator, etc.) or LCA faculty members must be respectful. Criticism of policy and criticism of an individual are drastically different, and the latter will not be tolerated.
7. Posts may only be authored by current LCA students — no former students, faculty, or persons outside of LCA.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding editorials for the Blue and White editors, feel free to contact at bw@lca.edu.
