If you know Brooke Krivickas, you know a truly genuine, humble, and kind human being. Brooke has been a blessing to the LCA community since sixth grade. From the time Brooke was in sixth grade, she was known as a feisty and tough, yet incredibly skilled basketball player. Brooke’s varsity high school basketball career started when she was just in eighth grade. Recently, on the night of January 4th, Brooke hit a landmark. From the time she started her high school career to last Friday night, Brooke banked 1000 points before she even hit her senior year. Her teammates watched proudly with wide eyes and total joy as Brooke hit her 1000th point.
1000 points does not come easily. Brooke has poured countless hours of work into her career; when Brooke is not competing fiercely on the LCA court in the winter, she is spending her fall and spring seasons playing AAU (Amatuer Athletic Union) basketball. When I asked Brooke about how she spends time during the offseason, she said, “During the offseason when I am not playing basketball at LCA, I play AAU basketball. I typically have team practice 2-3 times a week and play in numerous tournaments throughout the year. On the days when I don’t have AAU practice, I do skills work and strength training.” Whether or not she has practice or games, Brooke is honing her craft daily. Brooke has played for the Middlesex Magic, the Massachusetts Thundercats, and currently plays for the MCW Starz. The time and work that she continually dedicates to her career is extremely evident.
Brooke’s entire LCA athletic career stands out in every way; Brooke has several awards under her belt from her time playing LCA basketbal. Brooke received NEPSAC Class D All Star her freshman and sophomore years. She also received EIL All League her freshman and sophomore years. All of this was part of her journey to her most recent achievement: her 1000th point.
Last month LCA raised the 1000 point banner in the gym, and now our very own Brooke Krivickas’ name will be added to the banner and officially join the “1000 point club”. Her team, coaches, teachers, and the entire LCA community could not be more proud of her.
