As the excitement of a new school year filled the halls of LCA, so did the feeling of tense anticipation for students awaiting the reveal of our new athletic director’s identity. On the first day of classes in assembly, the student body was informed that our beloved previous athletic director, Mr. Ryan Patrie ‘03, is taking on a new role as the Director of Domestic Admissions here at LCA. Mr. Patrie had been the athletic director since the fall of 2014, and his godly service and hard work will be missed by many athletes throughout LCA. Thankfully, we still have him as the Varsity Girls Soccer coach and can catch him walking around the halls.
For several weeks our LCA student-athletes have been guessing, hoping, and praying for the mystery person that would fill this critical role. During assembly on Friday, September 21st, the student body was finally presented with the long-awaited answer. As our weekly celebrations assembly drew to a close, a familiar face appeared on the screen and a heartwarming video began to play. Mr. Scott Stevens addressed LCA with a friendly and sincere voice; many students who had been here in previous years instantly recognized him. Some reacted with tears, some with applause, and others with beaming smiles. Mr. Stevens— LCA’s former Student Life Director, Varsity Boys Soccer Coach, Meadow Breeze Director, and graduate of the class of ‘87 —left LCA in the fall of 2017 to move to Georgia and take on a new job there. LCA was visibly excited and overjoyed to hear of his return, as he made everyone at LCA feel especially welcome, and students and faculty alike have fond memories of his time here. The class of 2017 dedicated their yearbook to Mr. Stevens, recognizing his 25 years at LCA which shaped our community into the welcoming, friendly and exciting environment that it is today. We eagerly await his arrival!
